Stump Grinding in Trinity, FL
We grind stumps and clear trees and brush for Trinity homeowners, working out of our Clearwater base.

A stump left in the yard gets in the way of mowing, new plantings and anything you want to build. We serve Trinity from Clearwater, so there is no office in town, but we drive out for the job. Tell us what is standing in your yard and we will explain how we would handle it.
Stump grinding in Trinity: what the Florida ground means for the job
Most Gulf coast yards sit on sandy soil. Sand drains fast and does not grip a stump the way clay does, so a grinder cuts through it without much trouble. The catch is that roots in sandy ground tend to spread wide and shallow in search of water. That is why a big stump often has surface roots running across the lawn, and why old stumps heave up pavers, edging and sprinkler lines.
Warm, wet summers keep a cut stump rotting slowly from the outside while the core stays hard. A stump that looks soft on top can still be solid wood a few inches down. Grinding it out is quicker and tidier than waiting for it to break down, and it removes the place where termites and carpenter ants like to settle.
Storm season adds its own work. A tree that comes down in a squall leaves a stump, a root plate and often a hole. We serve Trinity from our base in Clearwater, so we plan visits by route and tell you plainly when we can get there.
What we grind: palm stumps, hardwood stumps and surface roots
Palm stumps
A palm trunk is fibrous, not dense like oak, and it has no true taproot. It has a dense ball of thin roots instead. That means a palm stump grinds fast, but the root ball can leave a wide patch of loose, stringy material. We grind the trunk below grade and tell you what is left in the hole.
Oak, pine and other hardwood stumps
Hardwood stumps are slower. The wood is dense, and the root flare can be wider than the trunk. We grind the stump face down in passes, working side to side until the cut sits below the surface. How deep we go depends on what you plan to put there. Grass needs less depth than a new tree.
Surface roots
Roots that run across the lawn trip people and crack walkways. If they are close to the surface we can grind them along with the stump, following each one until it dives too deep to matter. We stop short of roots near a pool shell, a septic line or a foundation and talk it through with you first.
Stump grinding, tree removal and lot clearing in Trinity
Stump work is where most calls start, and stump grinding is our main service. It covers stump removal, root grinding, palm stump grinding, commercial stump grinding and filling the hole with grindings once the job is done.
If the tree is still standing, tree removal comes first. That includes palm tree removal, dead tree removal, trimming, canopy raising, storm cleanup and removal of trees close to a house. Taking the tree and the stump out in one visit saves you a second trip.
For bigger areas, lot clearing handles brush and underbrush, forestry mulching, invasive tree removal and bamboo removal. That suits an overgrown back corner or a lot you are getting ready to build on.
You can see the full list on our [home page](/), or just describe the problem and we will tell you which service fits.
What a stump grinding visit looks like, step by step
Walking the yard
We look at each stump, its size, how close it is to fences, walls and the house, and where roots are running. You tell us where you want the grinding done and what you plan to do with the space.
Checking for buried lines
Before the grinder starts, we look for the usual hazards: irrigation heads, cable and drain lines, and any buried pipe you know about. If you have a map of your lines, show us. If you are unsure, say so.
Grinding and cleanup
The machine cuts the stump into chips, working across the top and down below grade. The chips stay in the hole as a mix of wood and soil. We can fill and level the hole with the grindings and rake the area. If you want the chips hauled away or kept for garden beds, tell us before we start.
What to expect afterward
Ground-out wood keeps settling as it breaks down, so a hole filled with chips can sink a little over the following months. Top it up with soil before you seed or lay sod.
How to book stump grinding in Trinity
Call (727) 483-5339 or use the Get a Stump Quote button on this site. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday, and we do not run an after-hours service.
Photos help. A picture of each stump with something for scale, such as a shoe or a shovel, lets us give you a firmer idea of the work before we visit. Mention if the stump is near a fence, a driveway or a house, and whether a tree is still standing.
